  I stayed here in July 2016 for my son's graduation in Bangor and was thoroughly happy with my stay. Although the decor is a little dated as everyone points out, this is mainly due to an adjoining property wall of a listed building being empty for many years as the Gwynedd Council cannot do anything to it or with it. I found it to still be a very friendly, happy guesthouse, with Phill doing just about everything in the place and Paula (helping with breakfasts) ensuring our stay was excellent.
  
  I was very nervous of being on my own in the place, but at breakfast on the first day, Paula engaged me in conversation immediately, making me feel very welcome and at home. The English breakfast, made by Phill and assisted by Paula set me up for the whole day.
  
  Be aware, if you have any breathing difficulties, a trip up to the top floor is unassisted - there are no lifts - however, I still managed very well with a rest afterwards.
  
  The room I had looked onto the back of the property, but as I was only sleeping in the room, that wasn't a problem for me. The room had a tv, wi-fi, a sink and tea/coffee facilities. There was a clean toilet right nearby and down one more floor was a very clean shower and toilet facility (which I chose not to use, as it was shared.) The work that Phill, Paula and the cleaning crew had to do was immense, as the place was fully booked, but they managed admirably.
  
  I would definitely stay here again if I ever need to be in the area. I had a great stay and would highly recommend this cheap, friendly and warm guesthouse to anyone needing a base from which to see North Wales.
